Bike cash for Ealing

Ealing Council has received £105,000 to improve its cycle network. According to the Ealing Gazette, Transport for London has given Ealing the money to"take cyclists away from the hazardous Uxbridge Road".

The work, scheduled for completion in April, will be in three areas:

Boston Lane and Northfield Avenue:

New signs, trimming of trees, and gaps in no entry gates.

Mattock Lane

Four cycle stands at the junction of Churchfield Road.

Six cycle stands at the junction with Bond street

Replacement of the no-entry sign at Culmington Road

Green surfacing East of Culmington Road

The council will also investigate traffic calming

Lower Boston Road

Link to Elthorne Park High School

Extension to Cambridge Road cycle lane

Cycle Stands at Boston Manor Station and Boston Parade

Install Cycle lanes in Lower Boston Road

Green Surfacing of all advisory cycle lanes


Bike Repair Classes in January 2002

If you're reading this in early January, it's still not too late to sign up for the bike repair class. Cycle Training are running a course to be held at Drayton Manor High School in Drayton Bridge Road, Hanwell. It starts on January 10, and continues on 17, 24 & 31 January from 7pm to 9pm. It costs £20, and is free to those on benefit. Call 7564 5990 for details.

7.20 for 7.30 start.

If you haven't been before you are very welcome. We meet at the rear entrance of Perceval House (the modern building to the left of Ealing Town Hall on Ealing Broadway, W5) The meeting ends at 8.45 pm at the latest, and normally adjourns for beer, wine, cheesecake, etc. at "Cafe Grove" on The Grove, W5.
