Oy Oy!

Anyone cycling through Hammersmith recently may have seen the Oy Bikes for hire parked around the borough. To rent the bikes, you call a phone number to get an access code which you then punch in to the lock to release the bike. The scheme is the brainchild of Greenford resident, Bernie Hanning, who says, "Cars in a city just don’t work. Fifty per cent of all journeys in London are two and a half kilometres long – the fastest way to do this is by bicycle." OyBike is short for "On Your Bike". For more information, or to register for bike hire, visit www.oybike.com
