Ealing Cycling Campaign

New September 2008

ECC in the Gazette

We apply for a number of grants each year, and the Gazette in conjunction with Barclays are repeating the "Let's Do It" for 2008. We put together a bid to run a project to encourage people with small children to get back on their bikes - with some help from us in terms of local knowledge, some child seats and trailers we can show them you don't need a car to drive around the borough to play groups and schools. We've contacted some local support agencies and realised there is a demand for this and have a waiting list already! The Gazette asked us for a photo shoot and some of the group spared a Saturday morning to grab their 15 minutes of fame.

Freewheel 2008

The Freewheel was another massive success with over 200 people from Ealing led into London to join 50,000 others. Full story on the front page.

Community Affairs

Another cub scout group has asked for our help and four of the group have helped them gain their cycling badge with a mixture of road training, maintenance and general cycling skills. We have now done two groups in Acton and Hanwell and look forward to working with more - including the older scout troops too.We also ran a Doctor Bike and information stall at a newly refurbished community hall in Greenford.
